Over 170 providers, survivors and advocates turned up on a rainy Los Angeles day to attend the January 24th Emerging Considerations in Maternal Mental Health policy summit, which was hosted by the California Maternal Mental Health Collaborative, the Los Angeles County Perinatal Mental Health Task Force and ACOG!  Attendees had the opportunity to hear a keynote address by Dr. Laura Miller, world renowned expert on perinatal mood and anxiety disorders and founder of the nation's first PMAD consultation line for health care providers.  Speakers such as Marv Southard DSW, Director of Los Angeles County Department of Mental Health, Doug Nemecek of Cigna Behavioral Health, Katherine Stone of Postpartum Progress and more participated in disucssion panels on model hospital programs, use of technology, creating a national awareness campaign and the role of health insurers.  Jessica Cushman also gave a detailed speech about her personal experience with postpartum depression and anxiety.  Powerpoint presentations and handouts are availabe for download.  Photos and a short video are also available for viewing.  First 5 LA also published a great article on the event.  Thanks to all who supported and participated in this great event!
